Like most projects, Studio 11:11 started the design process with looking at the existing house and it’s surroundings. The project is based in Mt Eliza, on the Mornington Peninsula, surrounded by a beautiful garden full of gumtrees. The studio decided to bring some of these finishes inside, by using spotted gum veneer and solid timber.

The initial brief from the client was to create a more open, better flowing kitchen space that could be used by the whole family at once. Designed to look like a table, the central island enhances the overall space by providing a more open feel.

Studio 11:11 wanted to create a seamless kitchen design with one continuous strong visual aspect, which became the applied panelling. Every other surface is kept very light and neutral with the emphasis on hidden detailing. The absence of applied handles, exposed hinges or lighting allows the material palette to take centre stage.
